LONDON, January 2007 - This month, satellite navigation pioneer Navman launches the company’s first NavPix™ Awards; up for grabs is a £1000 prize and the latest in satellite navigation technology. The competition enables people to create their own NavPix™ by uploading existing pictures of their favourite places and the location details on the NavPix™ website. Visitors to the site can then vote for their favourite location, and the winning entry will be the NavPix™ with the most votes. The competition can be entered online at www.Navpix.net/competition. The winner will receive a top of the range Navman N60i and £1000 cash and the five runners up will each be given a Navman N40i.
‘We have a great collection of NavPix™ on the Navman website and are keen to encourage people to share more of their pictures on the site’, says European PR Director, Colin Holloway. ‘We hope that the awards will provide some really inspiring pictures of unusual places and also introduce new users to the existing NavPix™ library. It is a great resource and we want people to be able to make the most of it.’
NavPix™ is a revolutionary technology, unique to Navman, which enables you to navigate to pictures. The Navman N series are all NavPix™ enabled and the N40i and N60i also have built-in cameras so that when you photograph places they are geographically stored on the satellite navigation device. Whenever you want to return to the destination you simply click on the picture and you will be directed there. The company already has an existing NavPix™ library on its website where users can share and download NavPix™ -www.navpix.net – so you can use other peoples’ pictures to navigate to a location.
