GPS pioneer Navman confident of road ahead after strong start to 2007

Latest figures* show that GPS pioneer Navman maintains its position as one of the top three satellite navigation manufacturers in Europe, at the beginning of what is set to be an exciting year for the company.

March 2007 – This news follows the announcement from GfK that, after sales of approximately 7.6 million GPS units across Western Europe in 2006, the figure is estimated to reach 11.8 million in 2007**. Sales data from GfK up to January 2007 demonstrates that Navman has secured its place as one of the top three players in the European marketplace, after taking 9.8% of the market share in December 2006. Having invested more than twenty years in the industry - longer than any other satellite navigation manufacturer – Navman has the heritage and expertise to take full advantage of the coming market expansion.

Following a strong December for Navman, the number of units sold in January this year meant that the company obtained the number two slot in the UK GPS market. Such positive sales figures were in part thanks to the success of Navman’s award-winning F20 system, which was the second highest selling navigation device in the UK for December 2006. Over the same period, the F20 was also the number one selling GPS product in Australia, a market in which Navman is currently number one in the GPS market.

‘This is an inspiring time for us at Navman,’ says Prash Vadgama, President of the Land Consumer Group at Navman Europe. ‘The figures from GfK are based on the number of units sold out, and as such are a reliable representation of exactly what the consumer is choosing. Our unique NavPix technology has allowed us to distinguish ourselves from the rest of the competition, and our best selling F20 has ensured that in a highly competitive market, we continue to thrive. We have worked hard to establish a solid European infrastructure – our website navman.com is available in six European languages, and the Navman offering includes multilingual customer support. We are proud to be one of the top GPS manufacturers in Europe, and we are confident that 2007 will be a year in which we will further cement our reputation as a major player in the business.’
