From navigating the roads to navigating the net, Navman’s new blog shows you where to go and how to get there.
May 2007 – Satellite navigation pioneer Navman adds another dimension to its unique NavPix technology this month, announcing the creation of the Picture Yourself There blog. A great resource for current events and newsworthy locations and a host of interesting destinations, www.pictureyourselfthere.net provides exact geographical information of great places to see that can be downloaded straight onto your sat nav – so, not only can Navman tell you about places that would be fantastic to visit, but they can help you get there at the click of a button. A not-so corporate, corporate blog, this is an exciting first for Navman, who are looking forwards to engaging with their customers in a new way.
Pictureyourselfthere.net will not contain Navman news and profiles, or even news of Navman’s latest GPS devices – the blog is all about location, location, location. The blog is updated daily with information about things to see and do across the UK and Europe. Recent posts have directed users to sights as diverse as the Star Wars exhibition in London, a beer festival in Keswick and the Champion’s League clash between Liverpool and Chelsea. The blog is a first for Navman, and developments are already planned for the future – although the site is currently a place for readers to find great places to see, it will soon be interactive and users will be able to comment about the different locations and suggest their own favourites.
The blog gives users the chance to utilise the unique NavPix technology in a simple and entertaining way. First, scroll down or use the categories – such as beautiful, educational and entertaining – to search through the locations and find your perfect NavPix. Then download the NavPix – simply a digital image of a place with the exact geographical coordinates embedded into it – onto a Navman GPS device in order to be directed straight there, without needing any address or postcode details.
‘Picture Yourself There is all about locations,’ says Colin Holloway, PR and Internet Director at Navman Europe. ‘We’re not going to fill it with details about our latest GPS systems and technology. You can find that kind of information on www.navman.com, and more importantly, this blog isn’t just for sat nav lovers - it’s for travellers and holidaymakers, and anyone who is looking for interesting places to visit. The latest events, must-see locations and places highlighted in the news are appearing on Picture Yourself There, with a link to a NavPix of that exact spot – this means that Navman users can download the details and navigate straight there. Even if you don’t have a Navman sat nav, you’ll be able to access the address details of these fantastic spots.’
