New S30 3D & S50 3D Models Launched

Navman upgrades its award-winning S-Series models – to include 3D landmarks and local directory search technology.

Hannover, 4 March 2008: Building on the success of its S-Series devices, GPS pioneer Navman continues to redefine satellite navigation with the launch of exciting new updates to the S30 and S50 models. The first integrated products from the newly merged Navman and Mio company, the S30 3D and S50 3D now include 3D Landmarks of over one thousand buildings in cities across Europe and an innovative new content and services package called Navman Connect. This includes Europe’s first Local Search service for locating specific shops and local amenities when on the move, using a trusted local directory search partner. Beneath the surface the S30 3D and S50 3D have also benefited from the inclusion of SiRF’s InstantFix II technology, reducing the time taken to fix on GPS satellite signals to as little as five seconds, even in built up areas.

The inclusion of 3D Landmarks means that the S30 3D and S50 3D include around one thousand 3D City landmarks, depicting major buildings such as the Eiffel Tower or Big Ben and helping the driver to better orientate themselves while driving in cities. The Local Search technology, part of the new Navman Connect content and services package, is ideal for locating shops, businesses or amenities in the local area. Local Search links to a leading online local directory search partner and enables the S50 3D to search for specific local facilities via a Bluetooth® connection to a mobile phone. Users of the S30 3D are able to use Local Search to identify shops, amenities or facilities on the Navman Connect desktop software before their journey and download to the device before setting off.

In addition, the S30 3D and S50 3D retain the polished finish and easy-to-use features of the existing S-Series range. The intuitive address entry interface includes a Speaking Keyboard that speaks each letter and number as you type, making inputting postcodes and addresses more accurate.

The new S-series 3D models will complement the existing S-series range of S30, S50, S70 and S90i. (For those customers who already have an original S-series device – an update that includes Local Search will be available via the Navman website - www.navman.com)
